Nemea Wine Country

Nemea is the home of Agiorgitiko, Greece's best-known red grape, and the valley is full of family wineries. The best part of a wine day is not having to drive, and here your chauffeur takes care of it from start to finish.

On the way you stop at the Corinth Canal, then visit Ancient Nemea, the site of the old Nemean Games, with its temple, stadium and museum. The rest of the day belongs to the vineyards: two wineries, the second with time for a long lunch.

Wineries take tastings by appointment and many close on Sundays, and the opening days of Ancient Nemea change between summer and winter. When you book, we send you a shortlist of wineries on the route, and you reserve your tastings directly with them. Late August to October, during the harvest, is the most beautiful time to come.

   A quick look down the rock-cut canal on the way south.

   Walk onto the old road bridge for the view down the narrow channel, then continue into the hills of Nemea.

   2. Ancient Nemea site and museum · 60 min here

   The Temple of Zeus, the ancient stadium and the museum.

   The restored columns of the Temple of Zeus rise among the vineyards; the museum and the stadium, with its vaulted athletes' tunnel, are a few minutes apart. Opening days change with the season, so check before you go; tickets for Greek state sites are sold on the official e-ticket site hhticket.gr and at the gate.

   3. Gaia Wines, Koutsi (tasting) · 75 min here

   Agiorgitiko tasting at one of Nemea's best-known estates.

   Gaia's winery sits among the high vineyards of Koutsi, above the Nemea valley. Tastings are by appointment only, so reserve directly with the winery before your trip.

   4. Semeli Estate, Koutsi (tasting and lunch) · 90 min here

   A second tasting with valley views, then a long lunch.

   Semeli's modern winery looks out over the vineyards of Koutsi and welcomes visitors for tastings by appointment. Ask the estate when you book whether food is served that day; if not, your chauffeur will take you to a taverna nearby.

   Back at your hotel

   About 8 hours after pick-up.

A fixed price for the whole day, per car rather than per person, VAT included.

Your chauffeur collects you from your hotel or any address in Athens at the departure time you chose, with a name sign, and brings you back there at the end of the day. At every stop they wait nearby.

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Cancel later, or miss the pick-up, and the trip is not refunded.

One booking covers the whole day: a private car, a professional chauffeur, fuel, tolls, parking and waiting time at every stop — no need to find and vet a separate driver or company yourself.
