About this day

A short, easy trip west of Athens. The first stop is the Corinth Canal, where you can walk onto the bridge and look straight down the narrow channel to the water.

Ancient Corinth was one of the richest cities of the ancient world. Walk among the columns of the Temple of Apollo and the old Roman market, with the fortress of Acrocorinth on the hill above, and visit the site museum while your chauffeur waits.

Finish on the seafront at Loutraki with a coffee, or a swim in summer, before the drive back to Athens. The afternoon departure runs April to October, when the site stays open later.

Your day, stop by stop

A guide plan for the 09:00 departure; times are approximate.

  1. 09:00

    Pick-up at your hotel

    Or any address in Athens.

  2. ~10:20

    1. Corinth Canal bridge · 25 min here

Walk onto the bridge above the narrow rock-cut canal.

From the old road bridge you look down the straight channel between rock walls to the water far below. With luck, a ship is being towed through while you are there.

  3. ~11:00

    2. Ancient Corinth archaeological site and museum · 90 min here

The Temple of Apollo, the Roman forum and the site museum.

The seven standing columns of the Temple of Apollo rise above the remains of the forum, the fountain of Peirene and the platform where St Paul is said to have spoken. The museum sits at the entrance. Tickets for Greek state sites are sold on the official e-ticket site hhticket.gr and at the gate.

  4. ~12:45

    3. Loutraki seafront · 50 min here

A coffee or a swim on the spa town's promenade.

Loutraki's long promenade is lined with cafés, palm trees and a pebble beach with clear water. In summer, bring a swimsuit; otherwise enjoy a coffee facing the Gulf of Corinth.

  5. ~15:00

    Back at your hotel

    About 6 hours after pick-up.
